The (First) HIA
Nick Moriello began his career at Health Insurance Associates, helping grow the organization through strategic expansion and acquisitions while serving individuals, Medicare beneficiaries, self-employed professionals, and businesses of all sizes. He quickly established himself as a trusted advisor for clients, regulators, law makers, and business leaders.
Adventures in Advocacy
As Health Insurance Associates grew, Nick became increasingly involved in healthcare advocacy, collaborating with national and state leaders, law makers, and regulators. One of the early advocacy focus areas was the Affordable Care Act. His work earned national recognition and established him as a respected voice in healthcare innovation.
Growth and Transition
In 2015, Nick sold Health Insurance Associates to Savoy Associates, providing strategic consulting throughout the transition. Three years later, he was recruited and became President of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, where he served for six years before retiring in May 2025.
Innovation Acceleration
Following his successful tenure at Highmark, Nick served on several healthcare and community boards, reinforcing his belief in connecting innovators with the decision-makers who bring transformative ideas to life. That mission inspired him to found Healthcare Innovation Acceleration, which he affectionately calls “HIA 2.0.”
